The Conference was inaugurated by MDNHM cum Special secretary health Dr. Nipun Jindal, along with Guest of Honor Dr. Mukund Lal, Principal, IGMC, Shimla.


The Founder National chairperson of Pediatric Pain and Palliative Care Dr. Rakesh sharma said that it was the First National Conference of  Pain and Palliative Care chapter,which is national body dealing with promoting the palliative care services in the country. He thanked the govt. for creating a Palliative Care Unit in IGMC, Shimla. He urged the govt. to establish similar units in all the  colleges of  the state to improve the quality of life of terminally sick patients.


The chief guest Dr Nipun Jindal said that the govt. is committed in improving the Pain and Palliative Care infrastructure and services in the state. More doctors and nurses will be trained in providing these services. Process to start Palliative care units has started and more units will be set up in near future.


Dr Mukand Lal Principal IGMC urged the medical fraternity to work with the sense of commitment for this noble  cause.

A Large  number of Delegates from Himachal Pradesh, and other states attended the Conference.


Present among other honored guests were Director Health Service, Dr. A.K Gupta , Chairperson of “CanKids” Mrs. Poonam Bagai and Eminent Pediatricians of Himachal Dr. R.K. Kaushal and Dr Neelam Grover who highlighted the Need and Importance of Pain and Palliative Care among terminally ill pediatric patients.
